Services in Montana

There is two services in Montana to provide your needs; the Montana Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services (MDHHS) and Montana Telecommunications Access Program (MTAP).

Montana Deaf and Hard of Hearing Service (MDHHS)

In 1999, Montana Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services (MDHHS) was set up by Montana Association of the Deaf as there was a real need for centralized location to provide interpreting services and to gather and share resources. MDHHS's mission is to enhance the quality of life of Deaf and Hard of Hearing Montanans.

MDHHS's Goals are: 

  • To advocate for statewide accessibility and promote empowerment for Deaf/Hard of Hearing consumers.

  • To provide an interpreter referral system. 

  • To advocate for and develop employment opportunities. 

  • To provide community education.

 

The office is located in the vocational building on the campus of Montana School for the Deaf and Blind. The physical and mailing addresses and phone/tty number are as follows:

Montana Telecommunications Access Program (MTAP)

Our mission is to improve the quality of life for all Montanans through education, innovation, and technology, by enhancing communications options. 

​

Montana Relay offers a variety of calling options: 

  • Traditional Relay Service allows users who are deaf, hard of hearing, or have difficulty speaking to connect using a text telephone (TTY). 

  • Captioned Telephone Services enables hard-of-hearing users to read what their callers say as they listen.

  • Other Relay Calling Solutions to fit your needs, including Speech-to-Speech service, Spanish Relay, Remote Conference Captioning.
